Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was a great man. He was born on 14 November 1889 in Prayagraj (Allahabad). His father's name was Motilal Nehru. Motilal Nehru was a famous lawyer. Jawaharlal Nehru's mother's name was Mrs. Swaroop Rani. Jawaharlal was the only child of his parents.
So he got very much pampered. He received his early education from home. He was sent to England for further studies. He was 15 when he went to England. There he studied at Harrow School, then at Cambridge University.
In the year 1912, he returned to India after completing his law studies. In the year 1915, he was married to Kamala Nehru. After returning to his country, Nehru started advocating, but he did not mind it. British rule on India used to make them restless. And one day he decided to meet Mahatma Gandhi.
At that time Mahatma Gandhi was carrying out many agitations against the British. In this movement, Nehru also went with Gandhiji. And remained with Gandhiji till India's independence. After independence, Nehru became the first Prime Minister of the country. Nehru loved children very much and was also sympathetic to poor people.
He considered himself a true servant of India. Nehru worked hard day and night to make India a successful nation. One of the great children of India is also Pandit Nehru. He was a man who had visionary, honesty, hard work, intelligence, patriotism and intellectual powers. He gave the slogan "Aaram Haram Hai".
He formed the National Development Council to improve the quality of life of the people of India. He was very fond of children, so made several plans for their growth and development.
