However, after 49 days, Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the government due to a rift with Congress. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Arvind Kejriwal contested against Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi and lost the election.
Assembly elections were held again in Delhi in 2015. This time the Aam Aadmi Party got a thumping majority, in that election the Aam Aadmi Party won 65 out of 70 seats. Arvind Kejriwal became the Chief Minister of Delhi for the second time. After this, when Arvind Kejriwal completed his 5-year term and assembly elections were held in Delhi in 2020, Arvind Kejriwal again won this election.
His party won 62 out of 70 seats and Arvind Kejriwal became the Chief Minister of Delhi for the third time. Arvind Kejriwal's party Aam Aadmi is the third such party in India whose government is in one state apart from another. In recent times, there are assembly elections in Punjab where the Aam Aadmi Party has won a landslide victory.
