This allegation was defended by Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Tilak himself had advocated it for 21 hours. But he was sentenced to 6 years of black water for this allegation in the year 1908. During this 6-year sentence, he was kept in a very disturbing environment at Mandalay Jail.


In the meantime, his wife had also died. When he was released from Mandalay prison in 1914, many crimes were imposed on him. In 1916, Tilak Ji also organized a joint session of Congress and the Muslim League. Both the states had demanded Swarajya through the Lucknow Pact.

He took part in the Swadeshi movement and spread it throughout Maharashtra. In 1914, he participated in the Annie Besant Home Rule Movement.


Books composed: Bal Gangadhar Tilak Ji wrote the book The Arctic Home in the Vedas during his imprisonment in 1903.
